Collaborating with Innovators
BioNovus has built a collaborative network of public-private collaborations since 2015.
Medical discoveries often spring from basic research in universities or research institutes, with funding from philanthropic or government groups like the National Institutes of Health (NIH). To bridge the chasm to clinical applications, these organizations often link with the private sector – hospitals, specialized consultants, pharma and biotech companies.
BioNovus partners with various organizations and disciplines, in the Kansas City region and nationally, to bring innovations through the pipeline and benefit patients.
BioNovus works closely with the University of Kansas (KU), engaging with faculty and practitioners to support research, training and university-spinoff enterprises. Partners include The University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Kansas Cancer Center, Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation (IAMI) and KU Edwards Campus. One spinoff, CicloMed LLC, is developing a KU-discovered drug candidate for bladder cancer, now in Phase I clinical trials.
CicloMed partners with several clinical research organizations – including Cmed Research, Clinipace and Notable Labs – to conduct studies related to fosciclopirox, its drug candidate for bladder cancer.
CureBridge Collaborative, a public-private partnership with KU Medical Center and IAMI, enables early-stage development and commercialization by organizing biotech companies – staffed by industry experts and funded through SBIR and STTR grants.
BioNovus engages with MRIGlobal, an internationally recognized organization performing customized contract scientific and engineering research, for proof-of-concept and other studies.
